IMUN: UN at our reach
The oldest students from the
School participated in the latest Iberian Model United Nations
(IMUN).
With the oncoming internationalisation of our School, programmes in English are increasingly growing and expanding. From the current trips to Wales, the Comenius Project and the EYP (European Youth Parliament), this year Àgora Sant Cugat has also added, among others, IMUN (Iberian Model United Nations).
It is not the first time this event has been held but it is the first time that Àgora Sant Cugat has been invited and which took place in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The programme, aimed at Secondary and Baccalaureate students, is based on the structure of the United Nations and prepares students to discuss topics related to the United Nations Organisation; e.g. human rights, nuclear energy etc. Students spend two and a half days sharing resolutions on the topics mentioned, discussing them, modifying and adapting them and developing the concepts of leadership and negotiation.
This year, the IMUN participants from School
were Neus Calbet, Adriana Cabezas, Bernat
Just, Alex Freire and Gisela Sin, all from
Baccalaureate.
The opportunity to join this great project is
a huge challenge and requires great responsibility but it
is a very positive
experience that opens students to new
ideas and current issues involved in international
affairs and that leaves no one indifferent.
